LG Electronics hopes to boost sales of LED TVs from 400,000 this year to 7.5 million in 2010.
The technology, which is still relatively new in the UK, uses LED backlighting instead of the fluorescent lights used in traditional LCD televisions.
Elsewhere in the world, LG’s LED sets have already proved successful.
In Taiwan the company sold out its whole LED TV inventory in early Autumn.
The price difference between LED TVs and traditional LCD TVs is starting to narrow, which should help LG achieve its sales target.
LG still has a long way to go to catch up with Samsung, which expects to sell 1 million LED TVs this year and 10 million next year, but LG does have some impressive TVs on offer.
Earlier this month LG launched the ultra slim (2.9mm) SL9000 series, featuring its ‘SEAMLESS’ design, where a single sheet of glass covers the whole front area of the panel.

If you have been looking to buy a mid-sized HDTV during this years Black Friday sales you may want to check out Kmart, they are currently offering an $80 saving on particular LCD HDTV.
This HDTV is made by Element and features a 26 inch diagonal along with support for a resolution up to 720p, compared to their deal we mentioned yesterday for a Sony Bravia 26 inch HDTV the pricing is a lot more affordable.
The Sony Bravia mentioned yesterday would set you back $449.99, however this HDTV is just $249.99, obviously Sony products will be more expensive, but $200 extra is too much in my opinion.
The technical specifications aren’t great, however should be adequate for low-end users, it features a 800:1 contrast ratio and a 5ms response time, there are also 2 HDMI inputs along with an SVGA input, for more details check out Kmart’s listing.

Samsung LN52B530 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV features 60,000 dynamic contrast ratio; 6 ms response time; 3HDMI inputs and one PC input.
There is no expert review on Samsung LN52B530, but David Kender at Televisioninfo.com did review Samsung LN40B530, which is in the same model series with the same features except the screen size. Accorder to this review, “Samsung LNB530 series LCD is a great, simple television. It performed well on almost every test, but was lacking in special features.”
